Salient Structures from High Angular Resolution Diffusion Images

This talk will present an overview of the work that we have done so far on computing the salient structures from the high angular resolution diffusion images and share some current results.

The high angular resolution diffusion imaging(HARDI) model can provide us more information than the tradition diffusion tensor imaging(DTI) model, especially on estimating much reliable orientations in regions containing multiple distinct orientations in the dataset, which is useful in tracking crossing fibers in human brain and the DTI model cannot handle it very well. Our work extend the approach of computing the salient structures in the DTI model to the new and much robust HARDI model.
